Hello, My name is Diane Fredericks!
Educational Background:
I was born and raised in the Philippines. I went to high school at Cavite Community Academy, where I first learned how to use a computer. That led me to take the Information Technology course at San Sebastian College Recoletos de Cavite, where I completed my bachelor's c degree in Information Technology. It allowed me to explore and discover my passion for things I did not know I could accomplish. One great example is my passion for designing and creating a website, which I enjoyed a lot. I found it challenging to live independently in the dormitory during my college year without my parents nearby. However, that did not stop me from reaching my goal and finishing my degree.
Professional Background:
Before I migrated to the United States, I worked as a Helpdesk Support Specialist for one and half years at Mutual Savings and Credit Cooperative of the Philippines with various responsibilities roles, including a portion of operational management. I then moved to Jackson, MS, and worked as an Online Technical Support and Instructional Designer at Belhaven University for seven years. I have learned all the necessary skills to succeed in the Instructional Designer field from a Christian Worldview. In 2019, we moved to Chicago, IL, with a new job title as LMS Admin and Instructional Designer at Resurrection University. It helps me to be more knowledgeable on the medical side of technology.
Personal Interest:
I love to spend my spare time with my husband and two daughters; one is four years old, and the other is eleven months old. I spent much time with my family, and I am very close with my sister and cousins. I always make sure I have time for them as they grow to build this beautiful connection. We love playing and reading all kinds of kids' books, and we enjoy watching Disney princesses on weekends. We traveled quite a lot, and South Korea is one of our favorite countries to visit. They have all this delicious food to try, like bulgogi, kimchi japchae, and more. The people there are so lovely and generous that I always feel at home when visiting this county.
Finding My Purpose:
When I moved here to the United States, I did not have a goal in mind. I was young, content with just my bachelor's degree, and did not look forward to the future. However, everything changed when I worked at a Christian University for years and became a mom. My kids are the main reason I am motivated each day and dream high to complete this course. They taught me that life is not always as easy as I thought. I realized that education is needed to succeed in life and to gain respect from others. This opportunity to study again and obtain a master's degree will boost my self-esteem as an individual and test my ability to pass my self-expectation to fulfill my dream and my kids' future.
